IDEAS COMPETITION
 
The Eduardo Torroja Foundation in collaboration with the Directorate-general of Architecture of the Ministry of Public Works, the Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción, and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Caminos, Canales y Puertos, of the Universidad Politécncia de Madrid convened a "Ideas Competition" for university students of national and international Architecture, Engineering and Art Schools, in order to design a cover for the journal Informes de la Construcción on its 70th birthday.
 
Informes de la Construcción was created in 1948 by Eduardo Torroja in the heart of the Research Institute that today bears his name "Instituto de Ciencias de la Construcción Eduardo Torroja", belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas CSIC.
 
The contents of Informes de la Construcción are indexed in Web of Science: Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI) since 2007; SCOPUS, Avery, CWTS Leiden Ranking (Journal indicators), REDIB and DOAJ. OBJECTIVE of the IDEAS COMPETITION
 
The Eduardo Torroja Foundation promotes the convening of this Design Ideas Competition for the cover of the journal Informes de la Construcción in order to keep alive the contribution of university students to this historic journal. A contest created more than 50 years ago, in which many generations of students from
different countries have intervened.
 
1 Any student enrolled in a Technical School of Architecture or Engineering of Civil Engineering, or Art may participate in this Ideas Competition. They have to be enrolled in any course, subject, degree, postgraduate or master degree. All students from erasmus programs are included, as well as different programs and
agreements between national and foreign universities.
 
2 Each proposal (design) may be submitted individually or by groups of any number of students.
 
3 Students may submit only one design each, whether individually or as a group member
 
 
 
PRE-REGISTRATION
 
In order to compete, it is necessary and essential to proceed in the first stage to carry out the free preregistration, by sending an e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. In this email, the following information should be sent:
- Name and surname of the contestants
- DNI number or Passport (foreigners)
- Course or subjects in which he is enrolled in the School of architecture or civil engineering.
 
Important: The prescription does not require submitting any work; however, to be able to appear in the contest it is necessary to be previously registered.
Pre-registration deadline: September 25, 2018
 
 
DRAWING DELIVERY
 
Date: September 30, 2018
 
You have to send the artistic drawing finished. If it is handmade, it must be scanned in good resolution so that it can be published both online and on printed paper.

In pdf file maximum 5MB called "work-motto chosen by the authors", for example: Enveloping Work
 
Important: You must send in the same email another pdf file "under the motto chosen by the authors" with the names and surnames of the authors, ID number or passport and emails and School of Architecture or Civil Engineering in which you are enrolled.
 
This should be called "Data-chosen theme", example: Data Envelope
 
The jury will only be provided with the pdf called Work-Motto
 
 
AWARDS
 
The following will be granted:
 
- First Prize of 2000 euros
 
- Second Prize: 1000 euros
 
- Two Mentions without economical endowment
 
The Eduardo Torroja Foundation will deliver a diploma to each of the winners.
